For over six decades, his name became synonymous with the rich, deep, and "round" sound of the bouzouki, rightfully earning him the title of the "Stradivarius" of Greek lutherie.

A Workshop Fueled by Discipline and Passion The heart of his craftsmanship beat in Nikaia, inside a neoclassical residence that served as both his home and workshop. There, Zozef adhered to a strict daily routine with almost religious devotion. From the early morning hours, surrounded by premium woods waiting patiently to season and age properly, he shaped the dreams of Greece’s greatest soloists. For Zozef, instrument making was never just a trade—it was a sacred calling.

"Wood is Alive" Those who knew him remember his unwavering belief that wood possesses its own life and personality. He never trusted industrial machinery; every cut, every carving, and every joint was done entirely by hand. This absolute commitment to handmade artistry is what made each of his bouzoukis unique. In fact, when musicians brought him instruments from other makers that had lost their "voice," he would smile and utter his legendary phrase: "I will operate on it!!!".

A Living Family Legacy Zozef’s artistry did not fade away with time. By his side since the tender age of six was his son, Nazaret. Growing up amidst the scents of wood and varnish, he absorbed every secret, every technique, and above all, his father's deep reverence for the instrument. Today, our workshop proudly follows those exact same footsteps, keeping the authentic, handmade tradition of Zozef alive and untouched by mass production.
